I know, I know…apologies tendered.
Real Life really made it’s oppressive presence known last week and this weekend.
You already know the details of the latter.
Well, the Wednesday training’s after effects carried over into Friday. This Team they have put me on is being charged with revising one whole part of the branch of government I work for [sadly, it doesn't involve changing policy or, what would have been my favorite: eliminating regulations] and it looks like the immediate head of the Team will be relying on me more than the other members. I just want to be another grunt, keep my head down, and do the minimum, but I like the guy a lot and he’s got an enormous amount of pressure on him to have this project up and running by Christmas, so what can I do?
Each Team member is supposed to put aside the equivalent of two working days per week on this project until the sleigh bells ring, but I get the feeling that, for your Humble Dispatcher, it will be more. Of course, I’ll still have my regular duties to carry out.
Lovely.
Well, at least I will be able to take satisfaction in the fact that this will be my last great hurrah, as it were. In a few years, I will, Good Lord Willing, be leaving this job I’ve had for nearly three decades and so, therefore, I will be going out with one final triumph under my belt. I’m certainly past the age of looking for another resume enhancer, unless it has something to do with making my life in the woods of New Hampshire even more satisfying.
My goal is to resume regular blogging tomorrow. And, yes, finally do another Rule 5 News and Rule 5 Saturday next weekend.
Thank you all for the kind words and the humor.
You all are the best Friends In The Ether a wired guy could want.
