The Lonely Conservative, one of the Boudicas of The Rightosphere and an all-around great gal to boot, had a bad day yesterday.
First, in the weekly e-mail blast she receives from the public middle school principal in her area, TLC was treated to a plea to pressure members of the Congress to prevent the Sequester from happening.
The title of the e-mail:
Act to STOP Sequestration now
Take Action!
The last line of it:
Tell Congress to stop these cuts to our childrens’ [sic] future. Our children deserve better.
You get the idea [and, being this was sent by an educator, there just had to be at least one spelling mistake].
TLC was justifiably angered:
Why are they sending out political messages using public school resources during work/school hours? And what message does this send our children? The national debt is $16.6 trillion and counting. The federal government has been running trillion dollar plus deficits for the past four years. But the message here is that we should continue living beyond our means and never cut spending….
But that was just the start of her misery:
…Later in the day I received an email with identical language (that most likely was written by the White House) from my younger son’s school. The subject line said it was a forward from our district’s superintendent. I was unable to locate her email address, so I sent an email to our school board president. I wasn’t nasty, but I let her know I objected to school resources being used to send out political propaganda. I also let her know that we have been happy with our district for the most part….
She then quotes the response she received in full and, as Stacy McCain comments:
The Lonely Conservative noticed that this message sounds oddly like the fundraising/scaremongering e-mails sent out by Stephanie Cutter: “Where do you think our middle school principal got his talking points?”
She’s not planning to shut up.
No she isn’t, especially after the following happened:
I had my own response typed up and ready to go but my husband intervened. He agreed with everything I said, but added “Go ahead and send it, even if it costs me business.” That’s what we’ve come to. Or I should say, that’s where we’ve been for years. Just shut up and don’t make waves while you work your freaking ass off to pay the taxes that pay the salaries and benefits of the public sector while the debt we’re leaving our children these people purport to advocate for continues to add up. If this isn’t Orwellian I don’t know what is.
I don’t know about you, but I can feel TLC shaking in anger and frustration as she wrote the above.
Banana, meet Republic.
As Stacy states: TLC is not going to be silenced. I’m not surprised. She’s a tenacious fighter — a Boudica.
We all need to summon the strength and fortitude to resist those who would enslave us.
Do take the time to click here and read the rest of her post, which also includes the response she was cautioned by her husband not to send. It ends with a heartfelt plea that we should all take to heart.
