Charles Granata is one of the heroes of the story of the preservation of the body of work of Frank Sinatra.
From his official bio:
As a record producer, project director and writer Granata has dozens of high-profile reissue projects to his credit, including the historic box sets A Voice in Time (Columbia/Legacy, 2007), Frank Sinatra in Hollywood (Warner-Reprise, 2002), and Frank Sinatra: The Complete Recordings 1943-1952 (Columbia/Legacy, 1993). Granata is the producer and engineer for Nancy Sinatra’s weekly radio program (Nancy for Frank) on Sirius-XM satellite radio.
He is currently at work on a project to restore the complete Tommy Dorsey / Frank Sinatra recordings which will be released in 2016. You can wet your whistle with this compilation until then: The Essential Frank Sinatra with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra [2CD], which he Produced.
November will see the release of A Voice On Air (1935-1955) [4CD], which is a collection of radio broadcasts and rehearsals.
This two-part interview, complete with full-versions of The Chairman’s songs referenced in it, provides much entertainment and insight into the career of Francis Albert Sinatra. You’ll also come away understanding why I highly respect Chuck Granata.
